Gevrey Chambertin, Champeaux, 1er Cru, 2016

At the very fine and stylish end of the Gevrey spectrum. Superbly clear and refreshing, lip-smacking forest berry and red cherry fruit. Lively but smooth and suave. There is background ‘Gevrey’ substance here but the overriding impression is a focused, velvety wine of pin-point precision. Situated on the north side of Gevrey planted on poor soils with a strong limestone influence.
