Château de Marsannay
Marsannay, Clos du Roy, 2017
justerini & brooks tasting note
Snappy, minerally and gravelly limestone characteristics underpin the tense, taut fruit. A plethora of concentrated, small berry flavours with dark notes of cassis complete the picture. The most backward and intense of the Chateau’s Marsannays but the most serious and complex too. A cuvée made from a plot of 70 year-old vines planted stony soils with a clay subsoil. A great vineyard and surely a candidate for 1er Cru status if Marsannay ever wins the right.
