Meursault, Les Charmes, Dessus, 1er Cru, 2018
Opulent, sunny golden fruits burst from the glass. Broad palate sun-kissed flavours glide across the palate - notes of butter, Mirabelle, fruit blossom, and wild honey. Very pretty, open-knit and seductive. From four specific parcels vinifed separately high up in the Charmes Dessus vineyard, just below Clos des Perrières and abutting the vines of Dominque Lafon; this represents a clear step up from the straight Charmes.
critic reviews
The 2018 Meursault Charmes-Dessus 1er Cru has a clean and precise bouquet. Understated at first, it opens with crushed rock, white flowers and touches of citrus fruit. It appears to build in intensity. The palate is quite oaky on the entry, although that should be subsumed with time. Good substance, slightly reductive, yet judiciously spiced with ample depth on the satisfying finish. Great potential. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.
