The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St.-Jacques offers wild strawberry, blood orange and light mineral aromas on the nose. This already feels enticing. The palate displays a fine backbone, quite a cool Gevrey-Chambertin, with slightly darker and more introspective fruit than the Premier Cru, yet still with fine tension on the edgy, structured finish. Good potential here but it is not going to be a Lavaux that runs out and hugs you in its first few years.
