The centenarian vines that produce this Aligoté Doré produced a small crop of concentrated berries, and this as a result offers a dense core of wonderful conference pear flesh. A very good Aligoté; saline and refreshing yet deep and offering wonderful floral pome fruit aromatics.

The vines that constitute the 2024 Bourgogne Aligoté are Aligoté d'Orée, planted a century ago, and the winemaking operandi here is to work the lees. It has a light bouquet that doesn't quite get both hands on the grape variety as I would like. The palate is better with a smooth texture, almost creamy, touches of pear and quince, gentle and understated towards the finish. It grows on you. Drink over four or five years.
