Mercurey, Les Bourgignon, 2023
justerini & brooks tasting note
The red clay soils of Mercurey can lead to gutsy wines, but while there’s power here, there’s also lots of class and interest and a sense of measured control. Hedgerow fruits layered with spice and sweet earth, and then darker fruits towards the finish. The tannins are genuinely refined and contribute to the long finish. Characterful and affordable .

The 2023 Mercurey Les Bourguignons offers a lovely bouquet of red cherries, crushed strawberry and potpourri. It shows fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fluid tannins, supple with crisp red fruit and a nicely poised yet weighty finish. This classy Mercurey signals a very promising future for this new project.
