Domaine de la Monette
Mercurey, Rouge, Les Bourgignon, 2023
justerini & brooks tasting note
The red clay soils of Mercurey can lead to gutsy wines, but while there’s power here, there’s also lots of class and interest and a sense of measured control. Hedgerow fruits layered with spice and sweet earth, and then darker fruits towards the finish. The tannins are genuinely refined and contribute to the long finish. Characterful and affordable .

The 2023 Mercurey Les Bourguignons has a pretty bouquet with red plum, baking powder and light earthy scents that open nicely in the glass. The palate is very pretty with succulent ripe red berry fruit, quite saturated tannins with a bright and citrus-fresh finish that urges you back for more. Delicious.
