    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note
Domaine de Montille, Pommard, Les Rugiens, 1er Cru, 2005

From the Bas Rugiens, the best part, where the soils are iron rich and red in colour, the name Rugiens coming from this distinct 'Rouge' colour. This is of Grand Cru quality, truly majestic with so much force and energy, showing a very intense and concentrated core garlanded by sweet ripe berry fruits. Pommard does not come more stylish.

(one-third vendange entier): Good dark red. Black cherry aroma complicated by iron and meaty nuances. Sweet and saline on the palate, with a chewy intensity and subtle soil character to the red cherry and mineral flavors. Broad, supple and very suave on the long aftertaste, which features serious dusty tannins and considerable incipient complexity.
