Dark, brooding and structured, but with great poise – a tight weave of steely tannins and dark fruits with floral highlights. This is class – intense and with so much more to give, yet long and composed. Red berry fruit coming though with time. Gripping and rather thrilling. From a very special part of the Malconsorts vineyard, a parcel that is the other side of the road to the main Malconsorts block, surrounded by the original part of La Tâche. Aged in a little more new oak than the classic Malconsorts and fermented with 60% whole bunches.

The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts Cuvée Christiane 1er Cru has a very different bouquet compared to the regular cuvée, more so than other years: intense black cherries, wild strawberry, crushed limestone/petrichor and dried violets. Excellent delineation - even more crystalline than the regular bottling. The palate is medium-bodied with a creamier texture, gentle caressing with a very faint ferrous finish begging the word...kaleidoscopic. It is a wonderful, multi-faceted Les Malconsorts in which you can easily lose yourself.
