Vosne Romanée, La Croix Rameau, 1er Cru [Torn labels, 1 mid neck fill, SHC], 2011

A little more reticent and brooding than other Lamarche 2011s. Perhaps a little closed to being with but a little aeration does reveal all of the suave fruit mixed with lively minerals and red berry character that makes this cuvée so good; a work in progress but excellent potential. There are few growers who manipulate vines in this tiny enclave within Romanée-St.-Vivant – it is therefore little known and rarely seen; however, it is capable of producing exceptional wines.
