Charmes Chambertin, Grand Cru, 2021
Silky red fruits caress while bright acidity refreshes in this gorgeously perfumed, long floating Charmes Chambertin. Entirely relaxed, composed and inviting, this is all about seamless refinement and polished beauty as it glides across the palate. Irresistible. Christophe Perrot-Minot has a stunning parcel of old vines in the prime haut part of Charmes, opposite Rousseau's Chambertin. There is much less clay here than further down the slope, which gives a very refined wine.
critic reviews
The 2021 Charmes-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is aged in wood until malo and then 30% sees a Wineglobe. This sports a bit of reduction, yet despite this, I discern more complexity vis-a-vis the Griottes-Chambertin. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, sappy red fruit, lovely structure and harmony with impressive body on the finish. This is a very classy, finely-chiselled Charmes-Chamberting that should give 20 years of pleasure or more.
