Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Grand Cru, 2022
A captivating Clos de Beze; floral, salty, lithe and dark fruited with interesting flecks of earth and a crisp mineral dimension below. This is not so much about body and density as about momentum, energy and a sense of drive. Layers of fine intensity and great length. A very complete bottle of Burgundy. From a 1.5HA parcel of almost 70-year-old vines. Fermented with 30% whole bunches. Aged in 80% new oak barrels.
critic reviews
The 2022 Chambertin Clos de Beze Grand Cru is showing brilliantly, wafting from the glass with notes of red berries and cherries mingled with incense, rose petals, spices and peonies. Full-bodied, fleshy and layered, it's seep and multidimensional, with a concentrated core of fruit and a long, resonant finish.
Blended with 25% whole bunches, the 2022 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru takes time to unfurl on the nose. It’s quite backward but well-defined with raspberry, wild strawberry, sous-bois and crushed stone. The palate is well-balanced with fine-grain tannins, fresh and lightly spiced, gaining depth towards the finish. Good vigor and persistence - this is a classy Clos-de-Bèze.
