Chapelle-Chambertin, Grand Cru, 2021
A beautiful Chapelle, all delicate flowers and fine red fruits on the lifted nose. Soft red fruits, red cherry and plum combine with perfumed noted of peony and rose on the palate. This has such a gorgeous texture, like flowing silk, delicate and subtle. Unhurried, seamless, floating Grand Cru finesse. Fermented with 15% whole bunches and aged in 75% new oak of medium toast.
critic reviews
The 2021 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has a nuanced bouquet with red berries, briar and bay leaf, a pinch of brown spice emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid red fruit on the entry, brittle tannins and touches of Earl Grey infusing the red berry fruit. A little spicier on the finish than its peers, this is a fine Grand Cru that perhaps just lacks a bit of length and density. Maybe it will gain that with age? Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
