Latricieres Chambertin, Grand Cru, 2017
justerini & brooks tasting note
Intense small dark berry, cherry and cassis fruit with a crispy, granular saltiness, enveloped by full velvety structure. Gripping, animated Gevrey Grand Cru of real spark and character. Fermented with 25% whole bunches. Latricières is a stonier and windier terroir than the other Grands Crus of Gevrey, producing firm, minerally wines.

The 2017 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru sees the same whole bunches and new oak treatment as the Chapelle-Chambertin. But this has more complexity on the nose, red and black fruit side-by-side, more mineral-driven with subtle iris and peony scents emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, fresh and vibrant in the mouth with a crisp and tensile finish. This is looking very promising.
