As ever you always get extra density, dimension and length here. Weighty, statuesque Premier Cru, with a depth and strength that is verging on Grand Cru in quality. Rich, honeyed fruit but earthy at the same time. Complex, concentrated and brooding. There is a lot of wine beneath the surface here that needs coaxing out of the glass. Sauzet's example of Combettes is one of the great Premier Crus of Puligny, up there with Caillerets and Leflaive's Pucelles. From 50-65-year-old vines in the well-exposed Combettes vineyard.
