Corton-Charlemagne, Grand Cru, 2017
Since 2016 this is now from a south facing parcel Le Charlemagne, adjacent to his Corton Pinot vines. This has great style and surprisingly length for such young vines creamy citrus fruit some toasted nut and stone, fine ripe yellow fruits very classy not a big Corton but a classy one. Very different to Follin’s Corton’s pre 2016 which came from more Pinot Noir orientated soils.
critic reviews
The 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a well-defined, quite precise bouquet of white peach and yellow flowers, plus a hint of French patisserie. The palate has a citric entry, good weight and a fine bead of acidity, though just as it starts to get going, it seems to run out of ideas, leaving the finish feeling a bit predictable and attenuated. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.
