Chassagne Montrachet, Les Vergers, 1er Cru, 2021
Attractive ripe nose with a touch of honey and stone fruit, then a burst of expressive, almost tropical fruit on the palate. While Vergers can tend to leanness in its youth, this is quite the opposite, a real extrovert with a lovely flow of rich fruit and plenty of freshness to keep it honest. Perhaps not the most intellectual cuvée in the range, but one sure to give plenty of pleasure. A fine east facing vineyard with poor soils on the St Aubin side of the village.
critic reviews
The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers 1er Cru has a pure and perfumed bouquet with yellow fruit, marzipan and light almond scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a touch of white pepper and orange rind mixed with tropical notes towards the finish - peach and passion fruit. You might suspect this comes from a warmer growing season.
