Corton Charlemagne, Grand Cru, 2022
Lovely notes of ripe conference pear on the nose, delicate minerality and a general sense of fine white fruit and tonic refreshment before the structure of this Corton Charlemagne becomes apparent. The power, and there is plenty of it, is delivered in a very precise, very streamlined way, a keel of grip that blades through the white fruits. Touches of mandarin on the finish increase the interest. This is a very fine Corton Charlemagne, with great driving precision and a long focussed finished. This is from a small parcel of 0.29ha in

The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a well-defined bouquet with yellow plum and orange pith, perhaps requiring more delineation. The palate is well-balanced with a tropical-tinged entry, mango and dried pineapple, the finish displaying good extract and a pleasing oily texture. Not the best in show, but a well-crafted Corton-Charlemagne.
