Taillepieds is a stony vineyard that habitually produces some of the domaine’s most brooding and mineral wines. The 2009 has that savoury, mineral and earthy streak lovers of Taillepieds will expect; however, this is also the most open and effusive examples the domaine has made, immediately offering scents of wild red and dark berry fruits, kirsch, touches of rock salt, earth and spice with beautifully creamy tannins. Highly seductive.

The 2009 Volnay Taillepieds is a model of grace. Subtle hints of pipe tobacco, herbs, crushed flowers and licorice add complexity to the fruit in this layered, beautifully nuanced Volnay. There is an inner tension in the Taillepieds that propels it to the saline, mineral-infused finish.
