Echézeaux, Les Rouges du Bas, Grand Cru, 2019
From a parcel that produces some of the lowest yields on the Meo-Camuzet estate, these small millerande berries produce intense wines. This is from one of the higher Echezeaux parcels in Les Rouges du Bas lieu dit, giving wines of finesse and pronounced acidity.
critic reviews
The 2019 Echezeaux Grand Cru Les Rouges du Bas is very promising indeed, wafting from the glass with notes of rose petals, plums, red berries, raw cocoa and exotic spices. Full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, it's lively and fragrant, with rich and refined tannins, good acidity and a long, expansive finish.
The 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru is very refined and pure on a nose featuring beautifully integrated oak, perfumed violets and iris petals with just a hint of iodine coming through. The palate is well balanced and fresh. Jean-Nicolas Méo commented that this sample was not showing as it ought to, and I agreed, which is why I will not rate it for now.
