Echézeaux, Grand Cru, 2019
justerini & brooks tasting note
From three parcels, the great Les Cruots (much beloved by Henri Jayer), Clos St Denis and Champs Traversins, this is a lively and bright, elegant style of Echezeaux.

The 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from parcels in Les Champs Traversins, Les Cruots and Clos Saint-Denis. It has a beautiful, quite ethereal bouquet of precise strawberry and morello cherry scents laced with crushed stone – just pure Pinoté. The palate is medium-bodied with satin-like tannins and fine acidity. This is not a deep or powerful Echézeaux, though it fans out with confidence on a black-pepper-tinged finish of modest length. This will drink well over the next 12–15 years.
