Nuits-Saint-Georges, Les Chaignots, 1er Cru, 2015
The extremely old vines here suffered more during the dry summer than Chevillon’s other parcels, producing only, half a crop. The wine is noticeably different than usual, offering more brawn and structure, intense spicy dark fruit flavour notes of bramble, loganberry, currant and sloe. Particularly powerful, this will reward a few years longer in bottle than usual. A Nuits Premier Cru vineyard on the Vosne side of the appellation and thus usually one of the silkier and lighter wines of the Chevillon cellar.
critic reviews
The 2015 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru has plenty of red fruit on the nose, still tightly wound after ten years. The palate is surprisingly structured, so much so that I thought it was a Les Saint-Georges. There is a touch of cough candy popping up on the finish with a spicy aftertaste. Very fine.
