Chambolle Musigny, Les Hauts Doix, 1er Cru, 2023

Very fine, high-toned red fruits explode in this elemental, energetic buzz of a Chambolle. It’s a mere baby, but already it is full of flow and laser-like impact, the core of bright salty fruit refusing to sit still, and garlanded by floating floral elements and complex minerals. Weightless intensity, a classic Haut Doix. A little-known but wonderful parcel of 70-year-old vines within Amoureuses that faces east. The poor soils and hard limestone always give a wine of perfume and minerality.
