Less overtly driven by fruit than the straight Chorey, this is mineral and discrete but with a lovely long finish and more depth at its core. There’s a certain savoury complexity here that makes it feel very poised and balanced yet there’s also a real clarity to the hedgerow and cherry fruit. A beautifully balanced and fine boned Pinot Noir from 70-year-old vines. Aged in a third new oak. Piece du Chapitre is a fine Chorey single parcel, a monopole of the Tollot Beaut estate, that is influenced by the cool Pernand valley.

The 2021 Chorey-lès-Beaune Pièce du Chapitre is a little muted on the nose. I'd like to see more fruit expression here. The palate is better with peppery red fruit, graphite and orange rind. It displays modest depth, though, like the Village, it just lacks some sustain on the aftertaste.
