Almonds and sweet peach notes, there's some depth and flesh here, a concentration of flavours around a powerful core of earthy fruit and dry extract. Impressive delineation with fine notes of salt and focused stone fruit intensity that flash across the palate. There’s a bass element to this too, with almond kernel and peach pit reverberating across the finish. The soils here are more profound than Sechet’s, based upon Calcaires Marneux, giving demonstrative wines that are beautifully counterposed with those from Sechet.",

The 2022 Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru has a waxy bouquet, less expressive than the Séchets at the moment, more yellow fruit here with lanolin and walnut. The palate is well balanced with a fine thread of acidity, yellow plum and citrus peel. Though, at the moment, the Séchets conveys a little more charm and personality. Fine.

Bursting with notes of white flowers, orange zest, nutmeg and iodine, the 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with bright acids and a long, expansive and perfumed finish. As ever, its expressive, charming style makes it something of the more-mineral Sechet's alter ego.
