Dom Pérignon, 2018

Dom Pérignon 2018 follows what was probably the smallest vintage in the estate’s history. By contrast, 2018 was a bumper crop of exceptionally healthy fruit. Upon opening the nose shows that classic DP reticence; it is demure and leesy, with a reductive edge and subtle notes of confit lemon, lime zest and chalky minerality. With a little air and a quick swirl it swiftly unfurls, revealing a beautifully creamy texture and buoyant fruit borne on a gentle, yet persistent mousse. Ripe kiwi and quince bloom across the palate, joined by delicate floral notes. The finish brings leafy red-fruit notes, Pink Lady apple, freshly baked sourdough and honeysuckle sweetness, all crested by umami-driven bitter lemon and salted almonds.
