Krug, Vintage, Brut , 2013

Krug 2013 is glorious. Bright, with a green-gold hue, energetic effervescence and a deeply complex profile, citrus is the watchword of the vintage. However, whilst the zesty fruit notes are extremely attractive, they do not dominate proceedings in this multifaceted Champagne. Richer tones of grilled apricot, macadamia, pistachio and Greek honey demand plenty of attention too. On the palate, the flavours fan out rapidly, with no one note prevailing: sweet Amalfi lemon and sherbet intermingle with toasted sourdough and a subtle cultured yeast character, supported amply by ground nuts, stone fruits and ginger.
