Pascal Doquet
Pascal Doquet, Le Mesnil, Grand Cru, Coeur de Terroir, 2002
justerini & brooks tasting note
This comes from fruit grown on various parcels that average 49 years old, the oldest being 77 years old. The wine is aged sur lie for 5 months after the first fermentation and this particular cuvee, unlike the others, does not undergo malolactic fermentation. The dosage here is 5.5g/l of residual sugar. Unctuous yet incredibly crisp and vivid, enormously intense and super long, this is rich yet full of life. Textured, bursting with pineapple fruit, fruit stone, mineral and crushed rock characteristics with a twist of green olive. Fabulous length of flavour and purity. ONew of the great wines of the Cotes des Blancs.
