Clos des Goisses, Juste Rosé, 2014
Having adored 2014 Clos des Goisses, we approached the latest vintage of Juste Rosé with hopeshigh. And they were not only met, but exceeded. The flowing, delicate, relaxed purity of the blanc iscarried over here and provides the perfect canvass for the bell clear pinot flavours to sing. 15% of theblend comes from saignée, which brings all of the fruit and none of the structure, and here, thismeans ample space for the wondrous, haunting red fruit flavours to sing. Peach notes, strawberry, fresh fig, liquorice, and crystalline red berry fruit are all presented in light, bright, pixellatedprecision; this has all the charisma of a classic Clos des Goisses, overlayed with the delicate sheen oflacy, cool, crisp red fruit. We cannot wait to follow this in bottle – the aromatics should continue todevelop beautifully over the coming decade.
critic reviews
The 2014 Extra-Brut Clos des Goisses Juste Rosé is terrific. This is the second vintage where the Pinot component includes 30% Pinot Noir (the highest here) done with a light saignée (rather than blended in as still red wine), which results in a Rosé with striking persistence. Cranberry, white pepper, chalk, mint and pink grapefruit lend complexity. More than anything else, though, I am so impressed with the wine's depth and the overall direction for this bottling. What a delight. Dosage is 4.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: March 2024.
Evoking aromas of strawberries, red berries, spices, papaya, rose petals and baked bread, the 2014 Extra-Brut Clos des Goisses Juste Rose is a stunning Champagne rose. Full-bodied, vinous and layered, it's concentrated and has a structured mid-palate, racy acids and a long, mineral, dense finish. This blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay was disgorged in March 2024 with 4.5 grams per liter dosage, with only 2,820 bottles produced. Undoubtedly, this is a gastronomic Champagne that could age gracefully over the next 30 years or more.
A light, salmon pink color with glints of gold, the Clos Des Goisses 2014 Juste Rosé is an 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay blend, 30% of which is saignée Pinot Noir to bring a lightly extracted rosé element to the wine. Delicately scented with pretty aromas of strawberry, plum, mandarine, marzipan, and nougat, the light to medium-bodied palate is expressive and bright with a creamy fruit texture and undertone of mineral salinity all ringed by halo of bright acid freshness. It finishes long, light and with gorgeous purity. Disgorged March 2024. 2820 Bottles produced. LGR144108EB
