    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

A blend of 82% Pinot noir, from Le Leon, but also Mailly and Verzy, alongside 17% Chardonnay from Verzy. The red component is a still red produced from the upper sections of Clos des Goisses. Less rich and vinous than the preceding 2012 release – to be expected given the cooler season - the 2014 is a cut glass rose with great detail and definition. Fine red fruits, typical spice notes, blood orange and a very light smokiness define the palate. As the flavours unwind it’s saying, please put me in a big glass! Crisp yet composed, this is a beautiful rose that would be very at home on a table full of fine food; lamb or shellfish spring to mind. Disgorged after 8 years sur lie, with 4.25g of dosage.

Disgorged in May 2022, Philipponnat's 2014 Extra-Brut Rose Premier Cru 1522 wafts from the glass with aromas of peaches and other sweet stone fruits mingled with hints of tangerine, buttery pastry and spices. Medium to full-bodied, bright and tensile, it's still tightly wound after its recent disgorgement, with a coiled mid-palate that I suspect will unfurl to offer charming, demonstrative drinking.
