Les Cintres, 2014
This wine takes its name from the arches that sit at the crest of Clos des Goisses and comprises two 100% Pinot Noir plots: Les Petits Cintres and Les Grands Cintres. This is the most concentrated, intense and hedonistic interpretation of this great vineyard. The wine is raised entirely in barrel and released after nine years' ageing on lees. Sleek and mineral, it has lashings of nutty complexity allied to fresh, crisp citrus, verbena, yellow and red fruits, and a subtle finish of honeyed brioche and vanilla. Only 1,566 bottles were made of the 2014.
critic reviews
Fine pale gold colour, has the purity, forward motion and clean savoury character of a Pinot-driven Champagne, so delicate and skilfully paced, savoury with apple tart and grilled pear, persistent mousse, brioche notes on the finish. Hard to resist. 0.45ha plot specific to this wine. 4.5g/l dosage, Philipponnat Champagne owner. Thierry Garnier winemaker.
