Philipponnat’s Royale Réserve bottlings offer up the signature Philipponnat traits of power and vibrancy – the perfect introduction to the house style. Both Brut and Non Dosé cuvées are a blend of 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay with up to a third of the blend coming from two separate ‘perpetual reserves’, the subject of much recent innovation at Philipponnat. The Brut NV opens with a nose of crisp citrus, summer berries and fine biscuit aromas, the palate vinous yet high definition, with complex red fruit notes and gentle toast on the finish. Surprisingly long and complete for an NV cuvee, with a wonderfully refined mousse of the finest bead, this delivers a huge amount of pleasure and class– as you’d expect from the signature bottling from one of Champagne’s smartest addresses. Dosage 8 grams. Base Vintage 2012.

Based on the 2020 vintage and disgorged in January 2024 with a dosage of eight grams per liter, the NV Brut Royale Reserve exudes aromas of pear, spring flowers, exotic fruits and spices. Medium to full-bodied, round and elegant, it's perfectly balanced with bright acids and a mouthwatering, long finish. This classic blend, which includes 65% Pinot Noir, 32% Chardonnay and 3% Pinot Meunier, also incorporates 34% vins de reserve, showcasing the houses signature style.

The NV Brut Royale Réserve is a fine introduction to the range. Citrus, white flowers, chalk and white pepper confer notable energy. Pretty floral notes lift the finish in this charming NV offering. This release is based on 2020, with the addition of 39% reserve wines. Dosage is 8 grams per liter, but that is not especially evident. Disgorged: January 2024.

Based on the 2019 vintage with 34% of solera reserve wines that were aged in cask, the Philipponnat Royale Reserve Brut NV is a blend of 67% Pinot Noir, 31% Chardonnay and 2% Pinot Meunier aged for three years, was disgorged in January 2023 and finished with an eight gram per liter dosage. Incredibly fresh and fragrant aromas of lemon cream wafers, quince, raspberry coulis, orange marmalade and butter sable biscuits flow into an elegant, light to medium-bodied palate revealing fresh orchard fruits and chalk amid a shimmering acid brightness and a wonderfully fine, precise finish.
