Pierre Paillard
Les Maillerettes, Blanc de Noirs, Bouzy, Grand Cru, 2019
justerini & brooks tasting note
A single vineyard plot that has been in the family for over fifty years, Maillerettes hails from the southern Mountain de Reims village of Bouzy. This is the mother block for all the Paillard Pinot Noir Massale selections; a 1970s planting on deeply chalky soils. These soils counter the south facing aspect of the village leading to a naturally deeper, fuller expression of Pinot Noir that retains a crisp minerality below. Wonderfully expressive on the nose, with red berry fruit, tobacco, coffee and ripe red cherry; this is pretty sensational, with darker toned accents that should develop beautifully with age. Very complete. A special cuvee. Dosage 3 grams / ltr
