Pierre Paillard
Ludes, 1er Cru, 2019
justerini & brooks tasting note
First introduced in 2018, the Ludes cuvée comes from two north facing plots of Meunier planted in 1970, on poor soils that see a thin layer of clay over deep chalk. Here there’s more of an emphasis on red fruit and chalk (than the other Meunier, Taissy), and more of a dart-like shape. Fine minerals, crisp acidity and a driving, linear persistence make for a Meunier at the more tonic end of the spectrum, all high-toned purity and salinity. Superb. Dosage 2 grams / ltr.
