Châteauneuf du Pape, Roussanne V.V., 2009
A 100% Roussanne from one parcel part of which was planted in 1920 and fermented in 50 percent oak barriques, this is always something special and the 2009 does not disappoint. Juicy stone fruit flavours, unctuous layered and complex, ripe exotic fruit, touches of lime blossom with cooling mineral undertones and hints of fresh citrus peel. The aromatics and flavours go on for an eternity, a wine of sheer class and intensity.
critic reviews
The flashy 2009 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Roussanne Vieilles Vignes remains at a sweet spot for drinking. Swirling the glass evokes pronounced candle wax, straw, dried flower, white mushroom and pain grillé aromas. Full-bodied and framed by soft acidity, the expressive 2009 has been a personal long-time favorite, and I’m glad to see it still rocking. That said, I see no need to wait any further to pop a cork.
