Clusel Roch
Condrieu, Verchery, 2020
justerini & brooks tasting note
One of most airy, bright and elegant Condrieus you’ll find, without lacking character or intensity. At 12.5% natural alcohol this offers gentle, juicy fresh orchard fruits with hints of fresh picked flower. A beauty. Aged in used oak barrels with malolactic fermentation completed. Production is always small as Clusel Roch holdings amount to a mere 0.5ha, yielding rarely more than 2,000 bottles a year.

From Chery, the 2020 Condrieu Verchery features delicate aromas of spring flowers, lychees, white peaches and fresh limes. It's medium-bodied, fresh, clean and long on the finish. Not a big, rich example of the appellation, it's built on the current trend of freshness, while still having plenty of character.
