Condrieu, Verchery, 2022
Smooth clear cut white peaches, flowers and a lick of honey, the 2022 Condrieu finishes with a trace of rock salt and fine grip. Always a composed and drinkable style of Condrieu, it is aged in used oak barrels with malolactic fermentation completed. Production is always small as Clusel Roch holdings amount to a mere 0.5ha, yielding rarely more than 2,000 bottles a year.
critic reviews
Perfumed and delicate, the 2022 Condrieu Verchery is showing well today, evoking aromas of flowers, lime leaves, lemon and spices mingled with delicate notes of pear. Moderately weighted and tense, it's precise and seamless with bright acids for a Condrieu with a fleshy, delicate mid-palate highlighted by lovely spicy notes and a long, saline finish. Matured in barrels, the oak is barely noticeable, making it one of the most tense, singular Condrieus. Readers who prioritize tension and salinity will appreciate this cuvee.
