Cornas, Les Billes Noires, 2006

From the high up Arlettes vineyard, this cuvée is fermented without any stalks. Incredibly intense and tight-packed, this shows deep concentration and complexity, really cooling, fresh mineral flavours, notes of red cherry, cherry stone and blackcurrant held together by a firm, ripe tannic backbone. A startling wine, built for the long term.
