Châteauneuf du Pape, Cuvée de Capo, 2007
The Capo is a blend of the Domaine's oldest vineyards (80 years old) aged for 19 - 24 months in old cask, a maximum of 6000 bottles are produced and it is made in the only the very best vintages. The 2007 is a hedonistic burst of ripe autumn and summer fruit, notes of kirsch, black cherry, strawberry, victoria plum and liquorice, there are also underlying tones of mineral cocoa and pepper spice, this is long complex, unctuous and incredibly stylish.
critic reviews
Inky ruby. Pungent, exotically perfumed aromas of dark berry compote, Asian spices and garrigue, with bright minerality adding vivacity. Powerful and deeply concentrated but also shockingly fresh and lithe, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors and notes of candied flowers and licorice. The finish is smooth, sappy and extremely persistent, with echoing floral and herb notes.
