Châteauneuf du Pape, Télégramme, 2017
Aromatic sloes and damsons, fruity and expressive. Excellent quality of fruit, pristine ripe forest and hedgerow berry flavours with some damson notes wrapped in slick, seamless tannins. Seductive and fresh. A blend of young, de-stalked Grenache vines from La Crau, blended with an older vine mixed from the Brunier’s Domaine de la Roquete estate. Aged for less time in barrel than Vieux Télégraphe, bottling in February after a year in large old oak casks and 6 months in tank.
critic reviews
Limpid ruby. Expressive red fruit liqueur, floral and spice scents show impressive vivacity and focus. Sappy, alluringly sweet and fleshy on the palate, offering appealingly sweet raspberry and lavender pastille flavors and a hint of spicecake. Closes long and smooth, displaying even tannins and strong, floral-tinged persistence.
