A 65% Grenache 15% Mourvèdre 10% Syrah blend including Cinsault and small proportions of the other permitted varieties. A different profile to the 2004, less svelte but more power. This shows vast concentration together with a plethora of blackberry, cherry, sloe and raspberry fruit, this has real brightness and freshness to it combined with muscle and grip. This will make a fantastic long haul wine.

The 2005 Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau is initially shy, but with aeration reveals pronounced tobacco, forest floor, leather and dried thyme. Full-bodied with slightly chalky tannins, it is built on a solid tannic frame. Decant for an hour to unlock its depth.
