Châteauneuf du Pape, Raisins Bleus, 2021

Always the more brooding, smouldering of the two reds, the Raisins Bleues cuvee is the darkness to the tradition’s light. Rich, dark chocolate, star anise, blood orange, the palate is much richer and more velvety. Silky and smart. A blend of 95% Grenache and other permitted co-planted varieties from three 70 year old parcels surrounded by the Rayas woods. Fermented with whole bunches, spontaneously, with no additions. The fermentation takes place in concrete tanks before élevage over two springs in old oak tonneaux.
