Malterdinger, Spätburgunder, 2023
More concentrated and nervier compared to the Malterdinger, the Alte Reben offers showy rich red and brambly fruits, dark cherries and hints of cocoa. Really gorgeous and radiant. It comes from different parts of the Bienenberg up to 20-65 years old. The plant material is 60% Burgundian clones and 40% German. Aged for around 18 months in 30% new French oak barrique.
critic reviews
Based on French genetics, aged in 30% new barrels and bottled in May this year, Huber's 2023 Malterdingen Spatburgunder opens with a dry and woody, quite toasty but fresh and elegant bouquet of ripe dark berries and red cherries. Elegant and fresh on the palate, this is an aromatic, round and juicy, nicely balanced Pinot Noir with remarkably fine tannins and a fine, crystalline and saline finish. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in July 2025.
