Wildenstein, Spätburgunder, Reserve, Grosses Gewächs, 2014
justerini & brooks tasting note
Bitter sweet cherry notes shot through with the typical Wildenstein ferrous quality on the nose. Very little in the way of noticeable oak . There's real power and drive to the palate, but delivered as if on stilts, the high wire acidity providing a sense of great energy and vitality while the red cherry fruit, smoke and iron flecked mineral notes dance across the palate. Lifted, racy, focused and very long - this is a shimmering, acrobatic and keenly defined Wildenstein to tuck away for at least a decade.
