Escherndorfer Lump, Riesling, Trockenbeerenauslese, 2009

Given the shimmering pale colour, the purity of the fruit, the exquisite limestone minerality and underlying freshness it is hard to believe this is a wine made from 100% botrytised fruit. Freshly dried apricots, stone fruit, sea salt, pure crystallised lemons and acacia honey revolve endlessly around a structure so pure and fine, so fresh and brilliant that, were it not for the driving force and endless length, one could be forgiven for asking "can this really be a TBA?".
