Rudolf Fürst
Pinot Noir, Hundsruck, Grosses Gewächs, 2024
From 2025
justerini & brooks tasting note
Immediately darker and more serious, with bullace, bramble and dark berry fruits joined by mint, dried herbs, toast and spice. The structure tightens considerably here: tense, fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity drive the wine towards a very long finish, with a touch of appetising bitterness adding further grip. More demanding than the Schlossberg today, but with greater depth and seriousness beneath. The feather in the cap of the Fürst estate, the Hundsrück has been recognised as an individual terroir since at least the 16th century. An intensely rocky, cool site, the wines often require more time to reveal themselves, rewarding those with patience. Fermented with 100% whole cluster and aged in French barrique.
