Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr, Riesling, Spätlese, 2013
Typically high in Brauneberg’s trademark pungent slate notes, this is also exceptionally elegant and refined. The acidity may be high but it is beautifully woven through the waves of complex mineral, citrus, crushed herb and red apple fruit. The over-riding impression here is one of effortlessness.
critic reviews
Lively bouquet of white peach, apple blossom and mint. Soft and gentle, with sweet apricot fruit nicely balanced by ripe but understated acidity. Elegant and persistent, this Spätlese remains light and refreshing.
The clear, noble and slate-flavored aroma of the 7% alcohol 2013 Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Riesling Spatlese #14 leads to a clear and polished, peach-flavored and racy/piquant palate, which is quite fruit intense and sweet Haag remembers "90 or 95 grams" of residual sugar but needs many years to come down to a drinkable dimension. The finish is quite salty and pure, but the fruit coat is really sweet and heavy.
