Bernkasteler Badstube, Riesling Auslese, Goldkapsel, 2023
Not a single berry selection but bunches with botrytis, so around 30-40%. Its west facing exposition means long evenings, which produces a ripe and sweet Auslese in feel, balanced by a core of concentrated acidity which gives a rather dazzling feel, pouring in to a long, rich seamless finish.

The 2023 Bernkasteler Badstube Auslese (Gold Capsule) opens with an intense and spicy, botrytized fruit aroma intertwined with fine noble rot aromas. Rich and generous yet also refined and elegant on the palate, this is a stimulating, saline yet mouth-filling and lovely sweet and round Auslese made to be aged for at least a decade and to be served with wild boar in 30 years. The savory acidity is fabulous and vibrantly fresh and gives this wine immense aging capacity. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from AP 13 24 in January 2025.
