Complex grassy minerals on the nose precede a very crunchy, mineral mid palate with sweet yellow plums and mango, herbs and bright citrus notes. The intense clear flavours are louder than the Wehlener and more out and out powerful, though this still retails the vintage hallmark of delicacy and freshness. A complex and deliciously refreshing Auslese that will no doubt take some time to reveal all its beauty. The Himmelreich of Graach is a first rate vineyard, the soils are a little deeper and richer than the Wehlener Sonnenuhr and the site is little less sun-blanched.
