Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Riesling, Kabinett, 2025
The distinction between this and the Himmelreich is subtler on account of our tasting at a very early-stage pre-bottling (Spring 2026), though the Sonnenuhr reveals its customary class and concentration on the palate. Sweet citrus fruits, stone fruits and ripe acidity are framed by impressive extract and structure.

The 2025 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett is a little smoky before relaxing into the scent of wet slate. More air later on adds a frisson of Mirabelle plums. Gentle, tender lemon and white peach enter on the wonderfully clean-cut palate. Yes, there is the juicy sunniness of 2025, but the stone stands right behind it, lending such beautiful, clear and soaring structure, with a lovely lemony brightness that almost has a cooling effect.
